Over the past couple of days, Liverpool have been constantly linked with Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara and it seems like Jurgen Klopp is finally moving close to his first signing of the summer.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern Munich from FC Barcelona in 2013 and he has been a really important player for the Bavarians during the past seven years. But with just one year left on his current deal, it looks like he is not too eager to put pen on paper to a new contract at the club, as confirmed by Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“He is a top boy on and off the pitch,” Rummenigge told Bild, as per Goal. We had serious negotiations with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new again at the end of his career.

“We have never had any contact with Liverpool. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it.

“We don’t want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly.”

And in a major development, according to journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Liverpool have agreed on personal terms with the 29-year-old.

He wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Thiago Alcantara.

“Bid to Bayern to be tabled in next days: approx 35m€, Liverpool wanting to get 30m€ + 5m€ bonus.”

With just one year left on his current deal, Bayern Munich will not be able to charge too much for the sale of Thiago Alcantara but the Germans are one of the hardest negotiators in the business so they will want to squeeze out as much money as possible.

Liverpool are not likely to spend too much money in the transfer market this season but if they can sign someone like Thiago for roundabout €35 million, it will be a great bit of business from the Merseyside outfit.

But if Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in a Thiago Alcantara into the first-team squad then he will have to free up some locker room space since right now he has a host of midfielders who play in the same role as the Spanish international.
