Arsenal picked up a superb victory vs Man United in the Premier League last weekend and almost everyone was shocked to see Mesut Ozil named in the first XI.

Unai Emery chose to play Aaron Ramsey in central midfielder which gave Mesut Ozil the space to operate just behind Alexandre Lacazette.

This selection from the manager shocked many pundits since the German has hardly featured under the Spaniard this season.

Mesut Ozil has been struggling for game time under Unai Emery this season and most of the appearances that the playmaker has made has come during second fiddle games.

And speaking to the US Network Stadium, Michel Salgado has claimed that the reason why Mesut Ozil has not featured under Emery is because the manager just cannot handle big egos.

“He’s a special manager like Rafa Benitez,” Michel Salgado told US network Stadium(as reported).

“He needs a squad with no big names, with no big egos. He cannot handle big egos.

“He needs a squad with team-work players, players that he can shape, that he can develop, that he can get into his system.

“Then if he’s got depth in his squad and the right players to work for him during the season and they follow him and are ready for it, then he can get results like he did in Sevilla, winning three Europa Leagues back-to-back. The players were ready for him.

“They were great players, but no big egos, no big names.

“I think he needs to learn how to deal with egos. He’s still learning. I know in PSG it was difficult for him because those were really big egos.”

While Mesut Ozil did manage to make it to the first XI vs Man United but we doubt if this changes anything for the German.

Arsenal are still looking for a buyer and if a club shows interest in signing the playmaker, Unai Emery will not one moment to sanction the deal.
