Arsenal are looking to bring in Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid as part of a swap deal with Alexandre Lacazette – according to a report in the AS.

Lacazette has not been able to impress under his new manager Mikel Arteta this season and there have been rumours that the Gunners boss is looking to sell him off during the summer. And at this very same time, Diego Simeone is one man who thinks, Lacazette can help bolster his squad for the upcoming season.

So AS are claiming that the Premier League side are ready to enter into a swap deal between Alexandre Lacazette and Thomas Lemar.

The report states: “Alexandre Lacazette is currently one of the players that most interest Atlético’s sports management in order to reinforce the lead for next season. The French striker is very liked by the Atletico coaches, who are very attentive to what may happen with this footballer in the coming months.

“The English club considers the possibility of a barter between Lacazette and Lemar, the French footballer who does not finish performing at Atlético.

“Arsenal are interested in the Atlético footballer, so there could be an understanding between the two entities.”

Is Thomas Lemar moving to Arsenal in the summer?

This is not the first time that Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Thomas Lemar but we think, Mikel Arteta should try and back away from this deal.

Atletico paid €70 million for Lemar to Monaco in the summer of 2018 but the player has turned out to be a major flop in Spain ever since his joining.

During the 2019-20 season, the winger has featured in 17 La Liga matches for Simeone’s side but has not scored or assisted even a single goal.

Lacazette, on the other hand, has managed to net 7 goals in 20 Premier League matches and over the past few months, the Frenchman has started to show improvements under Mikel Arteta.

A couple of seasons ago, Thomas Lemar would have been a perfect signing for the Gunners but right now, the 28-year-old is just excess baggage that Atletico Madrid want to get rid off as soon as possible.
