Thomas Lemar could secure a move to Premier League club Arsenal FC during the summer transfer window – as per the rumours.

Lemar moved to Atletico Madrid from AS Monaco in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee of €70 million but the player has not done anything special at the La Liga clubs since then.

During the current season, the winger has featured in only 17 league matches for Atletico and hasn’t managed to score or assist even a single goal.

So now, it seems like Simeone is looking for a fresh alternative which is why the club are likely to put Thomas Lemar up for sale in the summer.

Marca are reporting: “Expectations for the former Monaco playmaker have dwindled from supporters since his arrival, and the confidence of Diego Simeone has also done something similar.

“Rarely does he make it into the starting XI, although he hasn’t been a total periphery figure this term.

“The ongoing pandemic hasn’t stopped work in the Atleti offices though, and Lemar is very much seen as the past.

“Los Colchoneros need a significant financial injection in order to replenish their squad in the summer, and Lemar is the player with the most value who has the least importance to the squad.”

Will Thomas Lemar move to Arsenal?

Due to the current pandemic situation, Atletico Madrid will have to tread very carefully in the transfer market and this will be great news for Arsenal who have been constantly linked with the 24-year-old over the past few seasons.

And with Aubameyang likely to head for an exit, this could be the perfect time for the Emirates outfit to try and secure a transfer for the Atletico misfit.

It’s still unsure as to how much Atletico will quote for Thomas Lemar but due to his poor show in Spain, the player’s market value has dipped considerably over the past two seasons with TransferMarkt currently valuing him at €24 million.

This is a sharp dip from the €70 million that Atletico paid for the player only two seasons ago but if they really want to sign their desired players in the summer then they have no other option but to offload Lemar at a loss.

Mikel Arteta will have a very limited budget to work within the summer and if he can secure the replacement for Aubameyang for just €24 odd million then it will be a great bit of business from the London outfit.
