Jose Mourinho Spurs Premier League

According to the latest buzz in English football, Tottenham Hotspur might try and rival Manchester United in the signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

Man United have so far been deemed the favourites to sign Jack Grealish but this sudden entry from Spurs is sure to send a few nerves racing amongst the United management.

But as far as Football London’s Spurs correspondent Alisdair Gold is concerned, Jose Mourinho will not try and sign the 24-year-old due to the massive price tag on his shoulders.

He said, in a Q&A: “Villa would likely allow him (Grealish) to leave should they get relegated. He knuckled down after his move to Spurs fell apart, almost single-handedly dragged them up the Championship table and to promotion and has done his best to try to keep them up in the Premier League.

“He’s worked hard for them and should they go down you would imagine they will let him move on.

“I’ve given my opinion plenty of times about how much of a mistake at the time it was for Spurs not to push harder to get Grealish before Villa’s new investors came in and how he could have given Pochettino a vital second option to Christian Eriksen when the team ran out of steam.

“It didn’t happen and if he’s not crazily priced by Villa then United and Spurs will both look at him but I’d be surprised if Tottenham bid again despite coming so close last time.

“There’s a new manager in charge since those days and Grealish might not fit the bill for Mourinho as he did for Pochettino, particularly with the new midfield arrivals in the past year, even if Tottenham do need to increase their homegrown numbers.”

Will Spurs still try and sign Jack Grealish?

Aston Villa want £80 million for their star playmaker and right now only Manchester United are willing to pay such a steep price for the Englishman.

But if Villa get relegated from the Premier League by the of this season then there’s a possibility the club might drop their asking price to around £50 million which is exactly the amount Mourinho is willing to spend.

So as things stand right now, Spurs are ready to sit back and observe the developments and if Aston Villa are demoted to the Championship then we are sure Daniel Levy will launch a formal bid for Jack Grealish.

Up until now, Grealish has preferred a move to Man United but that has been primarily since the OT outfit were the only big names being linked with him. So it will be interesting to see if the 24-year-old changes his mind if Tottenham join the race in the coming few months.
