West Ham United brought in more than a dozen new players during the summer transfer window and one of them was Jack Wilshere who joined the Hammers after decades of association with Arsenal.

Manuel Pellegrini was hoping that Jack Wilshere would turn out to be that creative spark for his team in the midfield area but all that the player has managed to do is spend time in the treatment table.

His career at Arsenal was hampered by constant injuries and it looks like his life at West Ham is also moving in the same direction.

Jack Wilshere went through an ankle surgery during the month of September which forced him to miss as many as 10 games for the Hammers and just when was returning back to full fitness, the midfielder has been hit with yet another injury.

The English international has picked up yet another ankle injury which at first was supposed to be a minor one but now it has been confirmed the midfielder will be out for as many as five weeks.

“We hoped it was just a pain and that he could adjust for two or three days, but for different things it has been longer than we expected.”

Pellegrini has already lost the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko to long-term injuries and these constant injuries to Jack Wilshere is also causing a fair bit of hindrance for the Hammers boss.

Five weeks on the sidelines means Jack Wilshere will miss the whole of the festive period including games against Brighton and Burnley – matches where he could have found a fair bit of confidence.

Apart from all these games, Jack Wilshere will also miss the game against Arsenal during the first week of 2019 – a match which the midfielder would have desperately wanted to be a part of.

There is a slight possibility that Jack Wilshere could be available for selection right before the Arsenal game but the last thing Manuel Pellegrini would want is to play an out of form player against Unai Emery’s men.
