Rangers FC signed winger Jake Hastie from Motherwell this summer on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old is a Motherwell academy product and last season he spent the first half out on loan to Championship Alloa Athletic where he scored six goals in just 12 games.

The Gers released an official statement which read: “RANGERS are today delighted to announce the signing of Jake Hastie on a four-year deal.

“The winger will join the Light Blues from Motherwell with his current deal at Fir Park ends this summer.”

Jake Hastie has shown great promise over the past couple of seasons even Steven Gerrard held the youngster in high regards once he made the shift to Ibrox.

At the time of the signing, Steven Gerrard had said: “We’re delighted to be able to add Jake to the squad next season.

“He is a talented young player who has performed well for Motherwell in the second half of this season. We are always looking to add individuals to our group of players who will improve us and Jake will undoubtedly do that.”

But right now, Gerrard already has an overload of wingers and if Ryan Kent comes back on loan then Jake Hastie could be warming the benches next season.

And this is why many rumours have claimed that the Gers are planning to send him out on loan for the upcoming season.

This news has picked up real wind over the past couple of days but now Steven Gerrard has finally come out to set the record straight – clearly stating that Jake Hastie is not going anywhere.

The Rangers boss said: “Jake has just walked through the door and this will be a big change for him.

“The idea now will be to keep him here, to get him used to Rangers and his team-mates.

“He will get opportunities to play and shine, then we’ll go from there. I’m delighted to have him, he’s got a huge future.”

So it is clearly evident that Steven Gerrard has no plans on sending Jake Hastie out on loan for the 2019-20 season.
