West Ham United are planning to bring in a few players during the summer transfer window and it looks like Pellegrini is not focusing on star players only.

According to the latest rumours, the London outfit are interested in signing Benfica youngster Joao Felix.

As per the report, the Hammers have contacted his current club Benfica earlier this month, inquiring about the price tag of the forward.

Who is Joao Felix?

Joao Felix is a 19-year-old forward playing for Benfica and the youngster has broken into the scene during the past couple of months.

The youngster has come up through the ranks at Benfica and this season he has managed to score seven goals and provide four assists in just 13 league appearances for the Portuguese side.

He currently has a £105 million release clause in his contract which just goes onto show how big a talent the youngster is.

West Ham United though aren’t the only club who are interested in signing him as Wolves currently lead the race for Joao Felix given their good relationships with Jorge Mendes.

How good is Joao Felix?

Former manager Jorge Jesus has compared the youngster with the likes of Rui Costa and Brazilian superstar Kaka.

“I’m surprised by a young man, Joao Felix, who is going to be a reference in Portuguese football,” said the 64-year-old.

“He still has a lot to learn with respect to movements and tactics, but he will get there. He reminds me of Rui Costa and Kaka — he has a mixture of the two and is going to be a player above the average.”
