Liverpool host Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

And going into this match, the Germans remain slight favourites to come out with a win.

This is not because Liverpool are going through a poor run of form but Jurgen Klopp might miss some key players due to injuries.

Virgil Van Dijk is already ruled out of the high-profile clash due to a suspension and the manager is also sweating over the injury of Dejan Lovren.

Lovren is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and in a bid to get fit, the World cupper returned back to Croatia last week for some specific fitness training.

And now Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the player could feature in the matchday squad vs Bayern Munich.

“Dejan we have to see,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.

“Yesterday he had a ‘clearing’ session and after that, we have to see how he will react.”

“That’s the plan today, to be in proper training

“Dejan, I actually have to wait minute by minute if there is a chance or not.

“If it’s good then it will be another option.”

Dejan Lovren though might not make it to the first XI which means that midfielder Fabinho will play in central defence alongside Joel Matip.

But the news about Xherdan Shaqiri is a more positive one as reports claim the summer signing will recover in time from his abdominal injury.

Shaqiri like Lovren should also start on the bench but the forward’s return does add to Jurgen Klopp’s firepower and the manager can bring on Shaqiri in the second half.

Liverpool are certainly weak in defence and if Fabinho does really play in central defence then midfielder likes Jordan Henderson and Winjaldum will have to be extra cautious and protect the fragile backline.
