Joe Gomez has been in the eye of the storm during the past week and according to pundit Danny Mills, things will not get any better for the England international.

The defender started the 18-19 season as a first-choice centre-back for Liverpool but once he picked up an injury he immediately fell down the pecking order and since then he’s been struggling to get into the first XI.

This season, Klopp has gone with the defensive pairing of Van Dijk and Joel Matip but with the latter out injured, its Lovren who is currently partnering Van Dijk and not Joe Gomez.

And according to Mills, the youngster will find it hard to win back to the trust of the Liverpool manager meaning he could play very little club football this season.

“He’s fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool,” he told talkSPORT[as reported].

“He’s preferred [Dejan] Lovren to Gomez. I just think Gomez’s football is going to be limited this season.”

To make matters worse, Joe Gomez picked up an injury while training for England which is why he was sent back to Liverpool for further assessment.

And now as per reports, the defender could be ruled out for the clash against Crystal Palace next weekend.

If this report holds true then surely, Joe Gomez will find it even more difficult to get back into the first XI for Liverpool since with Joel Matip currently out of action one half of the central defensive position is up for grabs.

While some rumours claim the injury to the youngster is not very serious but we will only know the full details once he gets back to full training.
