Rangers could see ‘this’ key player leave Ibrox during the January transfer window: But why?

Rangers FC brought in Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest on a one-year loan spell during the summer transfer window.

But now reports are suggesting that the centre-back could head back to Forest during the current month.

Forest boss Martin O’Neill is currently facing a defensive crisis with most of his players out of action – either due to injuries or suspensions. And the manager has decided to bring back Joe Worrall.

Aitor Karanka chose to let go of Joe Worrall during the summer but now that the Spaniard has departed the club, Martin O’Neill wants to bring the 22-year-old back to the club.

And reports suggest that Forest are willing to do everything in their power to bring the defender back to the City Ground.

But the only way through with Joe Worrall can return back to Nottingham Forest is if Rangers choose to dissolve the loan agreement for the centre-back.

The 22-year-old has been a key figure for Rangers this season – featuring in 11 Premiership games which is why we are pretty confident that the Gers would not be too keen to let him leave.

But the report also suggests that Nottingham Forest would have to pay a penalty if they wish to take Joe Worrall back to the City Ground.

And this is where things are bound to get interesting.

Rangers are planning to make a couple of more signings this month and if they can receive a handsome penalty fee for Joe Worrall’s return then there is a slight possibility that Steven Gerrard might opt to take the money and use it to bring in some new players.
