Liverpool are set to take on West Ham United during the first weekend of the new Premier League season and the Hammers were confident that they could get all the three points from the game given the Reds were scheduled to miss a number of key players.

The Anfield outfit had a lot of players who represented their individual countries at the 2018 World Cup and are now spending there mandatory holiday before the 2018-19 season begins.

Players like Trent Alexander Arnold and Dejan Lovren will return back to training this week and there was a serious doubt if these players will make it to the first eleven against West Ham on the 12th of August.

But now the Liverpool manager has claimed that forward Roberto Firmino has a good chance of starting the game against the Hammers.

Firmino played a part for Brazil during the Russia World Cup and has just returned back to Merseyside for Liverpool’s pre-season training.

Jurgen Klopp has said that Roberto Firmino is in good shape and there is a good chance that the forward might get some game time during Liverpool’s game against Napoli.

Talking to Sky News, the Liverpool boss said: “It’s good to have him here, he looks in good shape, and if possible we will see if he can play against Napoli.

“Training for the outfield players is obviously different than for the goalies, but we want to see him as well against Napoli. We will see for how long. When we start against West Ham, he will have had then two weeks after three weeks off, it should be possible but we will see until then.”

This news will be a setback for West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini who was hoping to make the most of the absence of some top Liverpool players in order to win his first Premier League game as the Hammers manager.

West Ham United take on Liverpool on Sunday the 12th of August, 2018 at Anfield.
