Kai Havertz to Chelsea

Arsenal have their eyes on Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and according to Fabrizio Romano, the forward has no problems in joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Arsenal manager wants to add a second striker to his squad this summer and he is very keen to bring in the 24-year-old as early as possible. Chelsea are also ready to sell off Havertz but they are quoting a sky-high price.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Kai Havertz has no problems in agreeing personal terms with Arsenal but the North London side will have to shell out £75 million if they are serious about signing him.

Should Arsenal spend so much money on Kai Havertz?

Havertz’s current market value is £52 million but because his current contract expires in 2025, Chelsea can afford to quote a high fee for him.

He has played in 139 games for the Blues but he’s managed to score only 32 games for them so far. This season, he’s netted just seven goals while starting in 30 Premier League games and he’s in no way someone whose value is £75 million.

Kai Havertz is originally an attacking midfielder but at Chelsea, he’s been converted to a striker. Every Blues manager since his arrival has used him as a front man and its clearly not worked out for him.

Arsenal have gotten back into the Champions League so they will have money to spend but they have to be very smart with whom they sign. They are about to bring in Declan Rice but for the centre-forward’s role, Arteta will need to get someone who can average 20-25 goals every season.

It is impossible to see Kai Havertz scoring so many goals for the next three or four seasons continuously so it makes much more sense for Arsenal to buy a backup striker for £30-35 million who won’t mind playing second-fiddle to Gabriel Jesus next season.

Man City already have Erling Haaland while Liverpool have Gakpo and Nunez and on the other hand, Chelsea and Man United will bring in world-class strikers and if Arsenal sign Kai Havertz they will just be lagging behind.

The latest reports are suggesting that Arsenal are confident that Chelsea will agree to sell Kai Havertz for around £60 million but we still this is a very risky bit of business.
