Chelsea are on the verge of wrapping up the deal for midfielder Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen and they are spending a lot of money to bring him in, as per talkSPORT.

The report claims: “Chelsea are confident of signing Kai Havertz in a deal worth up to £90million, talkSPORT understands.

“Talks have been held between the two clubs for many weeks now, and talkSPORT understands a breakthrough has been made which means Havertz is set to head to Stamford Bridge.

“The 21-year-old will cost Chelsea roughly £72m up front, with add-ons possibly taking the total fee slightly beyond the £90m mark.

“Leverkusen are set to accept Chelsea’s offer and Havertz is expected to sign a five-year contract with the west Londoners, having allegedly already agreed personal terms with his proposed new club.”

Are Chelsea spending too much on Kai Havertz?

Chelsea have already brought in the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner while left-back Ben Chilwell is also about to join the club pretty soon from Leicester City.

And if this amount that’s being claimed is true then Chelsea are surely set to be the biggest spenders amongst the Premier League sides this transfer window.

Surely many eyebrows will be raised since Chelsea have spent so much money on Kai Havertz right after such a big and unexpected lockdown but the Blues are perfectly entitled to bring in fresh talent this summer as they could not sign even a single player during the past two transfer windows.
