Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and the midfielder also happens to be a target for Premier League champions Liverpool FC.
The Daily Mail reported: “Arsenal are among the clubs to have checked on experienced Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
“The German club want to sell the player this summer as he has one year left on his contract and is reluctant to sign a new deal.
“Liverpool also hold an interest but are reluctant to pay Bayern’s asking price of around £23million on top of high wages as he is 29 and will be free to discuss a Bosman from January.”
Thiago Alcantara has one more year left on his current contract at Bayern Munich and various reports have suggested that the player is interested in playing in the Premier League next season and that Liverpool are one of the frontrunners in signing him.
But Jurgen Klopp’s side are not keen to pay the asking price for the Spaniard given that he has only one more year left on his current deal at the club.
This is where Arsenal could come in and perform a coup but according to CaughtOffside, Mikel Arteta are prioritising the deal of Dani Ceballos instead of trying to bring in Thiago Alcantara.
They claim: “Alcantara’s name is now being mentioned as a target for Arsenal, but CaughtOffside understands a deal for Ceballos, whether a permanent signing or another loan, remains the priority for the north London giants.”
We are not sure how the Gunners can focus on Dani Ceballos when someone like Thiago is available in the transfer market this summer.
Many people have not been able to wrap their heads around this news but some experts claim that Arsenal know they stand no chance at signing the Bayern Munich man with Liverpool standing in the way which is why they are not ready to waste time on him.
