Karim Benzema wants to leave the Saudi Pro League and return to Europe and he’s being linked with Premier League clubs Man United and Chelsea.

The French striker left Real Madrid and joined Al Ittihad during the summer and in 15 league matches, he’s netted nine and assisted five goals. However, he doesn’t seem to be happy with life in the Middle East and wants to return to the limelight.

Karim Benzema has been banished from Al Ittihad’s training camp after missing several training sessions and right now, a move to the Premier League looks like a major possibility.

Man United were automatically linked with the 36-year-old but as per the latest reports, the Red Devils do not wish to sign the striker due to his age and his wage demands.

Benzema is reportedly earning around £172 million a year at Al Ittihad while his salary at Real Madrid was around £14.5 million per year and this is the major issue clubs will have when considering a January move. Man United have wasted a lot of money on ageing players in the recent past and it’s clear they do not wish to repeat this same mistake again.

With Man United out of the picture, Chelsea have a strong chance of landing the 36-year-old and Todd Boehly won’t mind paying up to be able to solve Chelsea’s goal-scoring problems.

The Blues have been linked with Karim Benzema as well as Roberto Firmino and Pochettino won’t mind a senior pro leading the line for the remainder of the season.

Thiago Silva has done really well in defence and someone like Benzema can shine up front as well. If the Blues can bring in Karim Benzema on a short-term loan deal and use his help to secure Europe football, it will be considered a successful transfer decision.

It’s clear that Karim Benzema does not want to stay in the Middle East any longer and with Man United pulling out of the race, Chelsea remain the only major club that wish to bring him on board. Some rumours claim that Real Madrid are also keen to bring back the Frenchman on a loan deal but we seriously doubt if this move is going to happen.
