Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was dropped by Frank Lampard from Chelsea’s Premier League clash vs Leicester City this past weekend. And already there are whispers that the manager might have lost faith in his Spanish keeper.

Kepa has made a few errors this season infront of goal but even a couple of weeks ago, Lampard chose to back his No 1 but the manager shocked everyone by dropping him to the bench during his side’s 2-2 against the Foxes.

‘You make decisions every week and every day in this job,’ the manager told reporters after the match.

‘No decision is easy. When it comes to a goalkeeper you probably do give it a little bit more thought and a bit more time, especially if someone seems to be the designated number one.

‘That can’t be the end of the story. We have to be competitive. Willy trains well, he acts well and he played well against Hull last week. I decided to stick with him.”

And even Chris Sutton has criticised the keeper saying he might not be good enough for Chelsea.

“It doesn’t matter how much they’ve spent, if he’s not good enough he’s not good enough,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Frank [Lampard] will be judging him through training all week, he’ll be getting advice from the goalkeeper coach. I think dropping him has come quite lately really he should have been dropped earlier on in the season.”

And while many rumours have claimed that Kepa Arrizabalaga might try and move out of the club at the end of the 2019-20 season but now the Sun is claiming that while the shot-stopper has been left puzzled after his exclusion but at the same time he’s willing to fight for his place.

A source close to Kepa told The Sun: “He was shocked at being benched but is determined to fight for his future.”

This is the first time that Kepa Arrizabalaga has been dropped by Frank Lampard in the Premier League this season meaning it’s still not time to hit the panic bell.

But having said that, the keeper’s made a series of errors during the past couple of months which surely has cast doubts over his long-term capabilities.
