Arsenal’s pursuit of Kieran Tierney is currently one of the most talked about transfers in the British circuit.
While Celtic have made it clear from the very beginning that they want nothing less than £25 million for one of their most prized possessions. But it seems like the Gunners are just not ready to pay that much.
Arsenal’s first bid was for £15 million which was swiftly rejected by the Bhoys with Neil Lennon claiming that the Gunners will have to pay more money if they wish to sign Kieran Tierney.
Talking about Arsenal’s failed bid and the prospect of a second offer, the Celtic boss had said:
“Arsenal are aware of what we value the player at. He’s on a long-term contract, he’s an asset and we don’t want to sell him.
“It’s going to have to take a lot more than what they’ve offered the first time around to give us a decision to make.
“I’ve had a chat with him as it can be a difficult decision and bit unsettling. I’ve been there myself so it’s important that we support him regardless of the outcome.”
While some experts claim that Arsenal might be able to get their hands on Kieran Tierney for less than what Celtic are demanding but clearly it will not turn out that way.
And a certain Tyrone Mings is to be blamed for that.
Last season, the defender played just 857 minutes of football on loan at Aston Villa but still, the newly promoted Premier League side have chosen to make the deal permanent for £26.5 million.
And this has clearly given Celtic more courage and now rumours have it that the Bhoys will not budge from their demands.
Also, another reason why Neil Lennon will not panic is because Napoli have now entered the race to sign Kieran Tierney and are expected to launch a bid for the left-back sometime this week.
