Arsenal have been on the hot pursuit of Kieran Tierney for the past couple of weeks and multiple reports have claimed that the Gunners have picked up momentum in regards to the transfer.

Kieran Tierney has come up through the ranks at Celtic and last season the youngster was easily one of the best players for the Bhoys.

During the 2018-19 season, the left-back played 40 games for Celtic – scoring one goal and making six assists and it looks like Unai Emery desperately wants to sign him.

The Gunners boss is planning for a defensive overhaul and the left-back area is one area which needs special attention.

Arsenal have the likes of Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac amongst their ranks but both of them did not play well last season.

Monreal is ageing rapidly while Kolasinac has not had the desired impact ever since he moved to the Emirates.

And in such a scenario, Kieran Tierney would be the ideal replacement for the left-back role.

As per the latest reports, Arsenal have already launched their first bid for the youngster which has been swiftly turned down by the Bhoys.

According to BBC journalist David Ornstein, the North London outfit have made an official bid of £15 million for the left-back but Celtic are not interested in letting him leave for such a meagre transfer price.

He wrote on Twitter: “As reported elsewhere Arsenal have had an opening bid of £15m for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney rejected – but there is optimism an agreement will be reached between the clubs, while personal terms for the 22-year-old Scotland international shouldn’t be a problem.”

Arsenal know it for a fact that £15 million will not be enough to sign Kieran Tierney and many experts believe that Emery was just testing the waters with this first bid.

Celtic understand that holding onto Kieran Tierney beyond the summer will be next to impossible and they will only agree to let him leave for a fee of around £25 million.

While Arsenal still not have made indications whether they are willing to pay the demanded price but some rumours claim that Emery is willing to send one of his youngsters on loan to Celtic Park in hopes that the Bhoys will reduce the transfer price.
