Liverpool suffered another loss in a key Champions League game thanks to yet another goalkeeping error from their second choice keeper Adrian.

A couple of seasons ago, it was Karius who made a series of major blunders vs Real Madrid and this time, it was stand-in keeper Adrian who helped Atletico Madrid pick up a 3-2 win at Anfield.

The keeper played in front of goal due to the absence of Alisson Becker and this proved to be a really costly change for the Merseyside outfit.

Adrian gave the ball away cheaply in the first-half of extra time thanks to which Marcos Llorente put things back on level terms for Atletico Madrid, ultimately helping the Spanish side pick up a 3-2 win.

But speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp chose not to lay any blame or pressure on the former West Ham United man.

The Liverpool boss said, via talkSPORT: “He’s a man and he knows that’s how it is. We will not blame him for a second – what you [the media] do, I don’t know, but stay respectful, that would be really nice.

“He did not want to do that, he saved us in so many moments when he played. Since he’s here, he had super performances.

“This goal didn’t help tonight but that’s how it is. I said, if you lose a game you always lose for some [different] reasons.”

And while the German manager has chosen not to publicly criticise the keeper so that his team’s morale afloat.

But clearly a number of Liverpool fans do not have the sensibility as they have not wasted even a second to launch an attack on Adrian.

Right after the match, the keeper chose to put out a message on Twitter which read:Very sad and disappointed for the result tonight, clearly not what we were expecting. Thanks to all the fans for the support, we still have big objectives ahead this season. LFC always comes back.”
