Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty to Rangers

Rangers FC striker Kyle Lafferty fell down the pecking order last season once Jermaine Defoe came into the picture and now reports are claiming that the 31-year-old is expected to leave the club.

At the start of the 2018-19 season, Kyle Lafferty scored a flurry of goals for the Gers but as the campaign rolled along, he lost his touch and was mostly warming the benches.

And now that Defoe and Morelos are going to be the mainstay for the next season, it is being reported that the striker will be heading back to Hearts – the club which he left to join Rangers last summer.

Football Insider reported: “Kyle Lafferty is keen to quit Rangers after falling out of the first-team picture and is braced for a huge contract offer from the Middle East big spenders, Football Insider understands.

“The Northern Ireland international, 31, was omitted from the Gers squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal after falling out of favour under Steven Gerrard.

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Lafferty is now looking for a new club and is braced for major contract offers from cash-rich clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.”

Once the transfer rumours hit the papers there have been some whispers linking Kyle Lafferty to Hearts.

These reports claim that the 31-year-old could be heading back to Hearts this summer given that he had a fine run with them during the 2017-18 campaign.

But as things stand this is not likely to happen with the primary reason being that Hearts have already signed striker Conor Washington last week which means that Lafferty has no place in their squad.

Also, Kyle Lafferty has been linked with a move to the Middle East and everyone knows playing in Qatar or Saudi Arabia will bring in a large amount of money.

So both him and Rangers will be mature enough the understand that a transfer to the Middle East would make much more sense.
