Alexandre Lacazette joined Arsenal in 2017 from Lyon and his first season in England was a rather unsettling one with many believing that the forward might turn out to be a flop.

But last season, he formed an indestructible partnership with Aubameyang and ended up scoring 13 goals and making 10 assists.

Now though reports are claiming that an unnamed Spanish club have shown their interest in Alexandre Lacazette which has led to Arsenal hit the panic button.

As soon as this news broke, there were reports that Arsenal representatives met up with Alexandre Lacazette and immediately everyone started claiming that the Frenchman was being handed a new contract.

His current deal with the Gunners expires in 2022 but now that a club has shown interest in signing him, Arsenal are not ready to lose him at any cost.

But French Football News has finally cleared up the whole issue and in a report, they had claimed that the meeting between Lacazette and Arsenal was not to discuss a new deal.

The report states: “Yahoo Sport FR report that Arsenal are due to meet with the representatives of star striker Alexandre Lacazette today to discuss the player’s future.

“The outlet claims that an unnamed Spanish club have made their interest in the former Lyon man known.

“Manu Lonjon tells Get French Football News that the subject of this meeting is not at all about a possible contract extension, rather to discuss the interest from this Spanish side and for the player’s representatives to understand what Arsenal’s position is on it – whether they may be open to selling or not.”

Alexandre Lacazette really found his stride last season and he is easily one of the best forwards in the Premier League right now.

Recently reports have suggested that there is significant interest in Aubameyang from China and amongst this, the Spanish interest in Lacazette seems to have clearly rattled the North London side.
