Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty to Rangers

Rangers FC brought in Kyle Lafferty last summer from Hearts but the forward is looking to head out of Ibrox after just a single year.

Kyle Lafferty had a really wonderful 2017-18 season with Hearts which prompted Gerrard to sign the 31-year-old for a second spell at the club.

And initially, the striker played a number of games up front along with Alfredo Morelos. But with each passing month, Lafferty fell down the pecking order and now with Jermaine Defoe coming into the picture, Steven Gerrard virtually has no use of the player.

During the 2018-19 season, Kyle Lafferty managed to play in just 22 Premiership games scoring five goals.

Now reports are claiming that Rangers are planning to offload him during the summer transfer window and it looks like the forward is heading to the Middle East.

Football Insider are reporting: “Kyle Lafferty is keen to quit Rangers after falling out of the first-team picture and is braced for a huge contract offer from Middle East big spenders, Football Insider understands.

“The Northern Ireland international, 31, was omitted from the Gers squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal after falling out of favour under Steven Gerrard.

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Lafferty is now looking for a new club and is braced for major contract offers from cash-rich clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.”

Kyle Lafferty still has one year left on his current deal with means the Gers can get a fairly good amount from his sale.

And if this deal does go through then surely it will be a great bit of business since the player has played just 852 minutes in the whole Premiership season this time around.

Kyle Lafferty was left out of Rangers’ pre-season camp at Portugal which has led many to believe that the striker is already making plans to move out of Scotland in the coming few weeks.
