Premier League Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool announced last month that they will not be providing a new contract to Daniel Sturridge which means he is now a free agent.

Daniel Sturridge joined the Reds from Chelsea in 2013 but during the past couple of years, the England international has fallen down the pecking order at the club.

Last season he mostly warmed the benches at Anfield managing to play in just 18 Premier League games – scoring two goals.

And in early June, the Liverpool managed announced that Daniel Sturridge along with Alberto Moreno will be released by the club once their current deal came to an end.

Jurgen Klopp said: “Daniel has earned the right to be considered a modern-day Liverpool great, I would think. He came to the club while we were trying to rebuild and re-establish ourselves.

“Some of the goals he has scored for Liverpool were so, so, so important.

“We will miss them of course, but we can say farewell with the best words possible: Guys, you leave as European champions.”

Some rumours have claimed that Daniel Sturridge will want to stay in England in order to stay in close contention for a return to the Three Lion’s squad.

But now it seems like the forward could be heading to the Scottish Premiership.

The bookmakers have slashed odds of Daniel Sturridge reuniting with Steven Gerrard at Rangers for the upcoming season.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said(as reported by talkSPORT): “Steven Gerrard will be desperate to shatter Celtic’s Scottish sovereignty, and his old Liverpool mucker could be the final piece of Rangers’ puzzle.

“If he stays fit and hungry, Sturridge could be Stevie G’s ticket into the Gers’ folklore.”

Daniel Sturridge is still only 29 years old and to have in on board will surely be a great signing by Gerrard but there are a number of reasons why this deal might not go through.

Firstly, the SPFL is not the most glamorous league in the whole which means playing in Scotland will not give Daniel Sturridge too much media attention.

Second and perhaps most importantly is the fact that if Daniel Sturridge does decide to join the Ibrox outfit then he will have to take a massive pay cut which we do not think the forward will agree to.
