Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard

Rangers FC are all geared up to take on Celtic in the Old Firm Derby on Sunday and before the game, the Gers captain James Tavernier has marked out the players who will be key during the match.

Steven Gerrard is expected to play with a 3-5-2 formation against the Hoops the same that he used last weekend against Motherwell which means that both Alfredo Morelos and summer signing Kyle Lafferty will play from the start.

And speaking before the fixture, James Tavernier told the club’s official website:

“We’ve got a lot of experience in the squad but with Laff and Greegsy they have obviously got the experience at Parkhead

“That will be vital in the game but we’ve got great leaders in the team who can manage the game really well.

“I don’t doubt that when called upon the lads will stand up to it.”

Both McGregor and Lafferty have had previous stints with the club and they know very well what it means to beat Celtic FC in an Old Firm Derby.

So clearly their experience both on and off the pitch will come in handy, more so when their manager is taking charge of his first ever derby.

With two strikers upfront, Rangers will surely have a lot of firepowers but the three-man backline clearly did not work last weekend against Motherwell.

While fans are hoping that the manager will revert back to a 4-3-3 but we are guessing that Gerrard will stick with this formation given that he has defended his decision a couple of days ago.
