Arsenal defender Lauren Koscielny is currently not taking part in any of the club’s pre-season activities after his recent rebellion and it looks like things will remain that way.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Laurent Koscielny has handed in a transfer request at the club and Arsenal will allow him to leave.

And immediately following this, there were reports about the centre-back agreeing on a deal to join French club Rennes.

But the club’s president recently came out to rebuff all these claims saying that they had recently made no contact with Laurent Koscielny.

“We learned about [the so-called agreement] like you,” Létang told Foot Mercato(as reported by Football365).

“Even my son told me it seems Koscielny is on his way. I told him that was false. He’s a good player with a lot of experience at international level. We met him twice last year. When we heard there was a chance he could leave in early June, we called Arsenal to ask if that was true because we could be interested.

“Around mid-June, they got back to us and told us they wanted to renew him. He wasn’t for sale.

“We haven’t had any more talks with the player. We have great respect for other clubs. We can’t talk with a player if the team don’t want him to leave, so I can say what came out this weekend is false and isn’t current.

“No, we haven’t spoken to Arsenal since mid-June. For me, there’s no point talking with the player if the door isn’t open.”

And now speaking about the future of Laurent Koscielny, Unai Emery has revealed that the club captain will be frozen out until the whole situation is solved.

“I tried for him to be with us in the pre-season here and to continue working to find a solution between the club, between him and between us,” Emery said.

“When he decided not to stay with us here in the tour, the solution now is only for the club and him because he decided to be out of the team in pre-season.

“I respect him, but we have responsibility, he has his responsibility and the club has their responsibility and I have my responsibility.

“And now it is one issue only for the club and for him. My idea is continuing with the players we are working with and the players that want to be here.”
