After Arsenal and Barcelona, now Atletico Madrid seem to have joined the race to sign left-back Layvin Kurzawa from PSG in the summer, according to Sport.

The full-back is out of contract at PSG next month and as per the updates, the Parisian club are not eager to offer him a new deal any more.

This means the 27-year-old is available as a free agent which has undoubtedly spiked the interest of a number of big European clubs over the last couple of weeks.

The report states: “Atlético de Madrid joins the list of teams that want Layvin Kurzawa, the 27-year-old left-back ends his contract with Paris Saint-Germain when the season ends. With Ligue 1 ended, the left-back is waiting for the Champions League to end with his team in order to choose a new destination.

“The team that seems to have shown the most interest is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, also Barcelona is attentive to the movements of the French defender…”

Should Arsenal back out of the Layvin Kurzawa deal?

Arsenal will have to compete with some influential La Liga clubs if they wish to land Layvin Kurzawa in the summer and given the fact that the left-back is a free agent, he will not be eager to lower his wage demands next season.

Right now Kurzawa earns £102,000-a-week at PSG which is a major stumbling block for the Gunners.

And we feel Mikel Arteta should be sensible and back out of this transfer since he’s already got a string of left-backs at his disposal.

The manager has players like Kieran Tierney, Sead Kolasinac and Bukayo Saka in his current squad so evidently he does not need one more player in that very same department.

Also, both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will be able to guarantee Kurzawa Champions League football next season which is something that Arsenal are shy off right now.

This season, Layvin Kurzawa has featured in only 14 Ligue 1 matches for PSG before the league was suspended and as per TransferMarkt, only 33% of these matches have seen the full-back get a starting role.
