Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently came out to claim that the long gap between the end of the domestic season and the Champions League final could end up helping Spurs more than the Reds.

There has indeed been a long gap which means that a number of players from both the sides have gone on holidays and Carragher feels this could affect the mentality of players going into such a high profile match.

“That’s p***ed me off a little bit that to be honest,” Carragher told The Anfield Wrap.

“I think it probably helps Spurs more than us, I would say. I think they’ve got bigger injury problems than us, certainly with Harry Kane, Harry Winks, other little knocks they had towards the end of the season. It gives you an extra week to be fit.

“I think we’re in much better form than Tottenham in 2019 and a longer break will not help that, really, in some ways.

“You do worry because you lose a bit of that rhythm that Liverpool have had the way they’ve been playing.”

But now speaking to the media on Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he would very happy take a three-weeks break instead of a small time frame.

“Ask me if I’d rather have three days (rest) or three weeks, I take three weeks,” he told the media(as reported).

“Tottenham had injuries but they are pretty much back. Bobby could use the time before the final, too. We had a game last Saturday, an internal game, to keep the rhythm. We’ll be fresher.”

Spurs have had a small advantage with such a long break as their players have had more time to recover. And this is a huge boost for Pochettino since he has worked with a really small squad this past season.

Liverpool too have had their fair share of advantage.

The likes of Roberto Firmino have been able to recover from injuries and will now be fully fit to play in the final this weekend.

And the Liverpool medical staff are still working hard to make Naby Keita fit for action but the chances of him playing look really really bleak.
