Liverpool scraped through to a 1-0 victory over Brighton this past weekend which was their first win in 2019.

And next week they take on Crystal Palace which could be another big test for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

With the likes of Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren out with injuries and Joel Matip not fully fit, it was Fabinho who partnered Virgil Van Dijk in central defence.

And now reports are suggesting that one more defender has been ruled out with an injury.

The player we are talking about is full-back, Trent Alexander Arnold who picked up a knee injury last weekend.

And now it is being claimed that the player has been sidelined for atleast two weeks.

The report suggests that surgery will not be required on Alexander Arnold’s knee and the return date has been chalked out based on the healing time.

This absence will be a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp but the manager should not be too tensed given the next couple of games are against fairly easy opponents and their next big test will be against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next month.

Apart from Trent Alexander Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum is also a doubt for the Crystal Palace game after he too picked up a knock.

But initial reports suggest that Wijnaldum’s injury is not as serious as Alexander-Arnold’s and he should be back sometime next week.

Joel Matip started on the bench vs Brighton and the centre-back should be back in the first XI vs Palace next weekend.

This means, Fabinho will be freed up once again and can then take up Winjaldum’s place in midfield – if the latter is not fit.
