Liverpool and Man United have been put on high alert as Philippe Coutinho could be available for sale this summer.

Barcelona recently announced the signing of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid and it is already evident that the Frenchman is set to be the biggest talking point next season.

This also means that Philippe Coutinho will fall further down the pecking order as Barcelona are reportedly planning to take the number 7 shirt from the Brazilian and give it to Griezmann.

Once this report was broken everyone was pretty confident that Barcelona are planning to offload Coutinho this summer which means that he could head back to the Premier League.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho but recently some rumours have also claimed that the Brazilian could move back to Liverpool.

While on paper this might seem like a really nice idea but the recent comments from Jurgen Klopp are clear indications that Liverpool have no intentions of spending money on big signings this summer.

“The transfer market is open. We will see what we do, but I don’t think it will be the biggest transfer window of all time,” confirmed Klopp(as reported by The Telegraph).

“Rhian Brewster and Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t play last year. All the young boys didn’t play for us last year.

“It is a difficult pre-season for us – Sadio Mane is in the (African Cup of Nations) semi-final which means he has two more games and will come (back) late.

“The Brazilians have finally finished a 13-month season. We looked tonight like we can find some solutions. It was a good sign for us, but we have to be better than last season.”

Philippe Coutinho plays down the left wing which is currently occupied by Sadio Mane at Liverpool. So spending around 90 million euros on signing the 27-year-old makes absolutely no sense for Jurgen Klopp.

Man United, on the other hand, have real problems down the left flank with both Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial failing to make a mark for themselves in that area of the pitch. So if Solskjaer does choose to make an offer for Philippe Coutinho then it would be a very tactful move.
