Chelsea received a massive upper hand in the Premier League top four race as they beat Leicester City 2-1 on Tuesday night, thereby moving to the third spot on the league table. Liverpool and the Foxes are the two remaining sides who will potentially have to fight out for the final European spot.

The three points mean Thomas Tuchel’s side are now more than likely to secure a Champions League spot next season meaning the pressure is back again on Leicester City. Liverpool face Burnley on Wednesday and if they beat them then Klopp’s side will re-enter the top four thanks to their superior goal difference.

Liverpool shouldn’t have a problem beating Burnley and even their final game in the league is against Crystal Palace which is pretty winnable and maybe this is why Ian Wright thinks the Anfield outfit are the writers of their own fate.

Wright said on Premier League TV after Liverpool win vs West Brom at the weekend: “It’s the kind of result where they will be thinking yes it is kind of aligning for us.

“When you see the goalkeeper coming up, that’s the kitchen sink, that’s the last thing they can throw and they go that. The goalkeeper came up and scored the goal and again they’ve got this [result going for them] tonight.

“Something is driving it towards them and it is now totally up to them to win those two games.”

Alan Shearer though is of a different view with the former forward suggesting that Liverpool are not going find it easy to pick up six points from their remaining two matches and in the end, it’s going to be them who are going to miss out on Champions League football.

‘I think Liverpool will miss out, just,’ Shearer told Premier League Productions, as quoted by Metro.

‘I know Burnley have looked like they have chucked the towel in already but then Palace, with Roy’s last game and I know he has announced it today.

‘I think they will miss out and I don’t think they will win their last two games.’

Now, on paper Liverpool’s remaining two matches should be easily winnable but their form this season has been really underwhelming which is why we just cannot put our money on them coming out good on both occasions.

As far as Leicester City are concerned, they take on Spurs in their final league game of the season and if Liverpool can beat Burnley in midweek then there’s every chance that Rodgers’ side will crumble under pressure vs the Lilywhites.

Technically, this one’s for Liverpool’s to lose but if they can get over the line against Burnley then we don’t think they will falter against Palace either.
