Liverpool picked up a superb win vs Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this past weekend and next up they host Arsenal in the Football League Cup on Wednesday.

With the win vs Spurs, Jurgen Klopp’s men not only maintained their healthy lead at the top of the table but they also proved that they can grind out results whenever required.

But we don’t believe Liverpool will have to work as hard in midweek since Arsenal have been going through a lot of troubles both on and off the pitch and having dropped points in their previous match, the confidence of the London side will be at an all-time low.

Having said this though, the Reds manager has a few serious injury concerns going into this game which is why he might have to make a number of changes to his first XI.

Liverpool news vs Arsenal:

The first and the biggest injury concern is Virgil Van Dijk who suffered a dead leg during the game against Spurs.

While some reports claim the defender should be fit in time to take on Arsenal at home in midweek but others feel the manager will not risk using him since the Premier League remains the club’s priority.

Apart from Van Dijk, Joel Matip is out with a knee injury and the defender could be out for close to six weeks.

So if Van Dijk cannot make himself fit then it will be the pairing of Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez who will play in central defence vs the Gunners.

Wijnaldum and Henderson started vs Spurs on Sunday but the pair should be rested in midweek as Naby Keita and Chamberlain comes into the first XI alongside Fabinho.

Mo Salah could be rested since he has just recovered from an injury which means Divock Origi will come into the team and in the forward line.

The introduction of Origi could see Sadio Mane move to the right flank while Roberto Firmino plays upfront.

Xherdan Shaqiri is still ruled out with a calf injury and it looks like Liverpool doctors do not want to take any chances with the winger’s return.

Liverpool predicted line-up vs Arsenal:

Starting XI: Alisson; Robertson, Joe Gomez, Lovren/Van Dijk, Arnold; Fabinho, Naby Keita, Chamberlain; Origi, Firmino, Mane.
