Just when it looked like Liverpool were picking up pace once again, Klopp’s men have seen another slump in form.

After losing 5-2 to Real Madrid in the Champions League, everyone thought they would bounce back vs Palace. However, that was not to be because the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.

On paper, they are still in the top-four race(nine points away from the final UCL spot) but for that to happen they will have to beat Wolves in midweek at any cost. After this midweek game, Liverpool will welcome Manchester United and right now, Ten Hag’s men are one of the best teams in Europe.

Jurgen Klopp, as usual, has a long injury list plus his team’s recent record against Wolves has not been great. Both these sides have met thrice in 2023 and Liverpool has managed to win just one out of those matches. The last time they faced off against each other was at the start of this month and Wolves won that match 3-0.

Liverpool’s team news and injuries:

The fresh injury setback is to Darwin Nunez who was not in the squad for the Palace match because he’s aggravated the shoulder injury he suffered against Newcastle.

The Liverpool manager has updated: “Darwin was okay with an injection against Madrid because there’s no structural damage. It’s very painful but the day after the Madrid game he got another knock there and he couldn’t move the arm at all.

“We will have to see how long that will take. That was the reason for him not playing.”

The forward will have to go through a late fitness test before Wednesday’s game but thankfully, Jota and Firmino are back to full fitness so Klopp doesn’t have to worry too much.

Apart from Nunez, Konate and Joe Gomez are also in contention to return from their respective injuries but their availability will only be determined after Tuesday’s training session.

Thiago and Luis Diaz remain long-term absentees and neither of them will be fit for the midweek game. Thiago’s absence has been a big problem for the Liverpool boss because apart from the Spaniard, Klopp does not have any other game-controlling midfielder.

Stefan Bajcetic was used as a sub against Palace but the youngster is in line to start this time around.

Jota and Gakpo both started at the weekend and we think Jurgen Klopp is going to stick with this same pair against Wolves as well.

Liverpool predicted line up vs Wolves:

Predicted Starting XI(4-3-3): Alisson; Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk; Henderson, Fabinho, Bajcetic/Elliott; Jota, Gakpo, Salah.
