Liverpool visit the Emirates Stadium this weekend to take on Arsenal in the Premier League and on paper, the Reds are the outright favourites to pick up a win.

The Anfield outfit have a superior squad as compared to that of Arsenal’s and also, they are in a better position on the league table going into this match. Liverpool might have suffered a few setbacks during the second half of the season but still, they are just five points away from that final Champions League spot on the table.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have already lost 11 league matches and are currently ninth on the table with just 42 points. This disparity would mean that Liverpool should not have too much to worry about but Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that Arsenal are very much a quality side and while their current league position is a bit shocking but the Gunners have the firepower to seriously trouble them.

“It is indeed,” the Liverpool boss said about Arsenal’s current league position while talking to the press.

“Surprised? I don’t think like this about other teams so I don’t judge them and think they should end up here or end up there. No, how I said, not surprised because I didn’t think really about it.

“But Arsenal is a quality side – if you go through the team they have a lot of potential, a lot of quality already as well, have experience, have the youth, have a really exciting team, to be honest. That’s how it is.

“But the Premier League is a tough league. If you are not in each second on your absolutely top level then you get punished. We obviously realised that as well, not only this year but this year as well. It’s a tough one but should be a tough one for Arsenal as well – that’s actually my only intention, to make sure that we will be exactly the opponent Arsenal don’t want to face this weekend.

“For that we have to put a proper fight out there and have to defend on our absolutely top, top level. If we do that we have a chance. If not, not.”

Arsenal played some great football in the second half of the West Ham United game but these outstanding performances have been far from common. The North London side have been really inconsistent this season and this is one of the main reasons why they are sitting in the middle of the table.

There’s no telling how Arsenal will perform on any given day so even if Liverpool manage to play mediocre football, they might very well come out of the Emirates with all three points.
