Liverpool might have made a superb start to their Premier League campaign this season but their Champions League encounters have not been so smooth.

The Reds are currently second in their group – one point from top placed Napoli and next up they take on Genk at Anfield this weekend.

A win in this match would more or less secure their progress to the next round but if somehow Genk could manage to sneak out with a point then surely there will a lot to worry about more so if Salzburg manages to beat Napoli.

While the away side will be keeping their hopes high but in their previous encounter earlier in the group stage, Liverpool thumped 4 goals past Genk playing away from home. And since Klopp’s men will be playing at home on Tuesday, we can expect another goal fest.

Liverpool news vs Genk:

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made a few changes to his first XI during their previous league encounter in the Premier League especially in the midfield region with the likes of Fabinho and James Milner starting on the bench.

But both these players are expected to start vs Genk in central midfield alongside Jordan Henderson.

The return of Fabinho and Milner means that Adam Lallana and Winjaldum will move back to the bench and might come on sometime during the second half.

Joel Matip is still out ruled out with an injury which means Van Dijk might be partnered by youngster Joe Gomez in central defence while Robertson and Alexander-Arnold play as the full-backs.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah both started vs Aston Villa on Saturday but one of them could be rested for the Genk clash which means Divock Origi will come into the side and play on either one of the wings. Roberto Firmino will keep his place up front.

Xherdan Shaqiri is still recovering from his injury which means he will not be a part of the matchday squad vs Genk on Tuesday.

A win for Liverpool will be enough to secure a move to the knockout stages but Klopp’s men have looked shaky in Europe and both Salzburg and Napoli have caused real problems to them.

Also, Genk are currently sitting at the bottom of the group which means that they have nothing to lose and throwing the kitchen sink from the very start is more than a sensible option for them.
