Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been tipped to rejoin Liverpool this summer – as per some rumours.
The forward moved from Merseyside to Man City in 2015 for a reported transfer fee of €63.70 million and since then he has been one of the best players for the Eithad outfit.
But while talking about his love for Liverpool, Raheem Sterling had recently hinted that he would be open to a return to Anfield in the near future.
And now there has been a report which claims that Sterling could actually head back to Liverpool sooner than expected.
One of Sterling’s entourage told L’Equipe, via GMS: “Even if Raheem is attached to Manchester City, he hasn’t forgotten Liverpool, because that’s where he became who he is as a man and as a player.
“Of course, there was controversy surrounding his exit, but since then, time has run its course and everything is possible”.
This season, Raheem Sterling has netted 11 goals in just 24 games for Manchester City and there’s no way that the club will want to part ways with the forward in the summer.
But over the past couple of months, there have been rumours that Pep Guardiola could be on his way out of the club since City will not be playing in the Champions League next season.
And if this report holds true then either of two things can happen during the summer transfer window.
- Raheem Sterling could follow his current manager to another club which most likely will be Barcelona.
2. Or the England international could rejoin Liverpool in case he wishes to remain in the Premier League.
While the prospect of Sterling coming back will surely be great news for the Liverpool fans but Jurgen Klopp will only consider this move if Sadio Mane decides to move out at the end of the season.
Yes, Mane has received a fair bit of interest from big European clubs but we do not think the player will vacate his locker room at Liverpool so soon.
