Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lorenzo Pellegrini from AS Roma – as per the latest reports.
Pellegrini joined Roma from Sassuolo in 2017 and this past season, the central midfielder featured in 25 games in the Serie A.
But some reports have claimed that Roma no longer feel Lorenzo Pellegrini is an asset to the squad and are willing to let him leave during the summer transfer window.
Now though, Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca has made it clear that Lorenzo Pellegrini is happy at Roma and the club have no intentions of letting him leave.
“Pellegrini is only thinking about improving with, and for, Roma,” he said.
“These issues don’t count, for now, it’s normal that Pellegrini is liked. Lorenzo is happy though, he’s already chosen Roma once.
“Then, when it’s time, we’ll sit down with Monchi again.”
Arsenal and Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder and many believe that a transfer fee of around €35million should be enough to sanction a sale.
Roma failed to qualify for the Champions League next season and it is being believed that Pellegrini is interested in playing in the top division of European football.
And this is where Spurs hold a key advantage over their North London rivals.
Neither club has made any formal bids for Lorenzo Pellegrini yet but we believe it won’t be long before they make a move.
Arsenal have already lost Aaron Ramsey to Juventus while Spurs are on the verge of losing Christian Eriksen.
So in such a scenario, both these clubs need to bring in a midfielder with the utmost priority and Lorenzo Pellegrini might just be that man.
