Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Bolton Wanderers striker Josh Magennis – as per the latest reports.
Josh Magennis signed for Bolton last summer on a two-year deal from Charlton Athletic and this past season the 28-year-old has put in very muted performances.
The Bangor lad has managed to score only 6 goals in 45 appearances for Bolton and this is why the Championship side are planning to sell him off during the summer transfer window.
The Belfast Telegraph have reported:
“International chief Michael O’Neill currently has four players on the books at Ibrox – Steven Davis, Jordan Jones, Kyle Lafferty and Gareth McAuley – and the Belfast Telegraph understands the Light Blues are in talks with Magennis’ representatives.
“Magennis, who scored the winner for Northern Ireland against Estonia in Tallinn last Saturday night, is currently in limbo with his club Bolton Wanderers.
“The Bangor lad has one year left on his contract after signing from Charlton Athletic last year for £400,000.”
Now with such a poor goal return ratio, there is no way that Josh Magennis will be the replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
So maybe Gerrard is eyeing him in order to add depth to the squad.
Some reports have also claimed that the Gers are planning to offer Kyle Lafferty to Bolton in a swap deal for Magennis which will save them from spending any sort of extra money.
Rangers already have Jermain Defoe amongst their ranks and if they can manage to hold onto Alfredo Morelos for one more season then Josh Magennis will end up being the third choice striker at Ibrox for the next season.
But if the Colombian does decide to leave this summer then Magennis will most certainly see a fair amount of game time.
