Arsenal bought Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria last summer for a transfer fee of €28.65 million but he is expected to leave after just a single season.

Marco Giampaolo has taken charge of AC Milan and if reports are to be believed then the former Sampdoria boss is keen to reunite with Lucas Torreira.

The midfielder played his best football under Giampaolo and the Milan boss wants him to become the midfield marshal next season at the San Siro.

And now reports are claiming that the Serie A giants are planning to launch an official bid in order to sign Lucas Torreira.

Sky Sports reported: “AC Milan are preparing a bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira on loan, with a view to a permanent transfer.

“The Serie A club will make an offer in the region of £4.5m for a two-season loan, with an additional fee of around £25m to make the Uruguayan’s move permanent at the end of that period.

Sky in Italy understand that Torreira would like to return to Italy to work with his former manager Marco Giampaolo, who took over at AC Milan this month.”

Recently, the midfielder himself claimed that he has found it hard to adjust to life in England – hinting at a possible exit.

“The language [barrier] has cost me, to be able to relate with my peers and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue,” Torreira said earlier this month.

“And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy.”

UPDATE:

Fresh reports coming out of Italy are claiming that Arsenal are in no mood to sell off Lucas Torriera and the club are already planning to offer him a new deal.

His current contract expires in 2023 but the Gunners have reportedly held talks with the midfielder’s agent Oscar Bentancourt over the possibility of a new deal just to show AC Milan that Lucas Torreira will not be sold.
