Manchester United are on the verge of signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and it looks like Roy Hodgson has already narrowed down a replacement.

Palace are set to receive a substantial transfer fee for Wan-Bissaka and if rumours are to be believed then Nathaniel Clyne could be his replacement for the upcoming season.

Nathaniel Clyne fell down the pecking order last season at Liverpool thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold and for the first half of the season, he was warming the benches.

But in January he was loaned out to AFC Bournemouth and he ended up making 14 league appearances for the Cherries.

Nathaniel Clyne returned back to Anfield last month but the 28-year-old still has no use at the club which means Crystal Palace can sign him for a relatively low price.

The Football Insider are reporting: “Crystal Palace have opened preliminary talks with Liverpool over a £25million double deal for Nathaniel Clyne and Simon Mignolet, Football Insider can reveal.

“The Londoners are keen to take advantage of right-back Clyne and goalkeeper Mignolet’s fringe status at Anfield as they work on what would be a significant heist on Anfield.

“A Palace source has told Football Insider that Palace have been in contact over a double swoop and early discussions have begun over the cost of transferring both players.”

Jurgen Klopp has no use of Nathaniel Clyne for the upcoming season since he already has James Milner who can be used as a backup to Alexander-Arnold.

Palace are set to receive around £50 million for the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United and if they can get Nathaniel Clyne for the reported £12 million then it will surely be a great bit of business from Hodgson.

Under normal circumstances, Klopp wouldn’t have sold off a player for so less a price but Nathaniel Clyne has just entered the final 12 months of his contract.

So either, Liverpool sell him off for cheap this summer or risk losing him for free next year.
