Two Man United players could fall out of favour under Ralf Rangnick: Can they reinvent themselves?

Luke Shaw Man United

Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is trying to steady the ship for the remainder of the season and Luke Shaw along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka might not fit into the interim manager’s plans, as per Rio Ferdinand.

The ex-United man believes that the two full-backs need to pull up their socks and work big time if they want to find a regular spot under the new German boss.

Ferdinand said on his Five Youtube Channel: “I’ve got to be honest, Wan-Bissaka has got a hell of a job getting back in this team. The same for Luke Shaw.

“They’ve both got one hell of a job. One thing this manager likes is full-backs who can actually play and get on the ball.

“As well as doing the other stuff like pressing, he wants output with the ball. That’s the weakest part of Wan-Bissaka’s game, there’s going to be a big fight for him to get back into this team.”

Can Luke Shaw & AWB reinvent themselves?

If Sunday’s game was any hint then Rangnick clearly prefers Diogo Dalot over Wan-Bissaka and the 24-year-old could be warming the benches for the remainder of the season.

AWB provides nothing when going forward and this is something that will not please the interim manager one bit. Ralf Rangnick is a very attack-minded manager and Dalot is someone who fits this brief perfectly.

Wan-Bissaka cannot improve his attacking prowess overnight so he will have to work on this aspect of his game during the training sessions – something which is a slow and tedious process. So he won’t move up the pecking order overnight.

Luke Shaw though has the capability of proving his worth to the new boss but he will have to find his previous season’s form in order to make it happen.

Shaw’s form has dipped over the summer and going by his current form Ralf Rangnick is going to choose Alex Telles over Luke Shaw each and every week. The 63-year-old will surely give Shaw a few starts once he returns to full fitness and that is going to be the only window of opportunity that the England international will get as the season into the decisive second half.
