Manchester City’s team news vs Wolves: Phil Foden out with an injury?

Man City suffered a 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek but this defeat will not be an obstacle for the manager since City have already secured qualification to the knockout stages.

Next up, Man City take on Wolves in the Premier League and for any other team such a UCL loss would have been a rhythm breaker but with the kind of form that City are in right now, we expect them to get back to winning ways without any major hiccups.

Wolves have failed to pick up a win in their previous three league matches and on the other hand, Manchester City have not tasted defeat in their previous five outings and after Chelsea dropped points, the Etihad outfit are now sitting at the top of the table.

The Cityzens have a few injury concerns going into this match but Guardiola’s side have enough firepower to pick up all three points on Saturday. Also, several first-team regulars were rested in midweek so they will be fully charged up for the Wolves game.

Man City team news & injuries vs Wolves:

Ederson was rested on Tuesday so he will come back into the side but Pep Guardiola does have a few injury doubts in the defensive areas.

Nathan Ake picked up a knock in the 2-1 loss so he will likely miss out and this weekend’s game might also come too early for Aymeric Laporte. If Laporte is not 100% fit then John Stones will hold onto his place and will partner Ruben Dias in central defence.

He said after the match: “Nathan has a problem with his back – we will see tomorrow.”

Kevin De Bruyne was handed a start after several weeks and the playmaker was one of the best players on the pitch for Man City against RB Leipzig(he got a rating of 7.6 out of 10).

But it won’t be a surprise if the playmaker is moved to the bench as Pep Guardiola brings in the in-form Bernardo Silva. Silva can also play on the right-wing but we think the Portuguese will be deployed in the advanced midfielder’s role

Fernandinho got a rare start in midweek but on Saturday he will make way for Rodri.

Phil Foden picked up a knock in midweek but speaking after the match, the Man City boss had revealed that the problem was not serious at all.

Pep said: “Phil had problems in the beginning of the game with his ankle, he was taken off as a precaution.”

Foden should be fine to start vs Wolves but with the busy winter schedule starting we don’t think Guardiola will risk using him, especially when he has both Grealish and Raheem Sterling at his disposal.

Gabriel Jesus remains on the sidelines with a knock which means Riyad Mahrez will hold onto his place from the Leipzig game.
