Rangers FC have held an interest in Livingston FC’s centre-forward Lyndon Dykes for a couple of months now. And as per the latest rumours, arch-rivals Celtic have also joined the race to sign him.

Lyndon Dykes joined Livingston in January of 2019 and during the 2019-20 season, the 24-year-old has been in really impressive form – scoring nine and assisting eight goals in 25 Premiership matches.

And with both the Old Firm clubs likely to lose out on their first-choice strikers, they are planning to make a move for Dykes during the upcoming transfer window.

Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is currently wanted by a host of top European clubs while Odsonne Edouard could be on his way to Arsenal this summer. In such a scenario, Lyndon Dykes will be the perfect replacement for either of the two players but there are serious doubts if the two Glasgow clubs will be able to get their hands on him or not.

Will Celtic & Rangers miss out on Lyndon Dykes?

The first big reason why the Old Firm clubs could miss out on the striker is that apart from them, a number of other English clubs want to sign Dykes for the 20/21 season. And there’s a big chance the player could be looking to head south of the border.

The Daily Mail reports: “Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Wigan Athletic, Blackburn and Barnsley are just a handful of the clubs who have made enquiries for 6ft 2ins Dykes who scored 12 goals in 33 games last season.

“Sunderland are also in the hunt though their financial issues could hinder their challenge.”

The second reason is that Livingston are not ready to sell off Lyndon Dykes for anything less than £2 million and right now this price tag is a bit too steep for both Rangers as well as Celtic.

The same report claims: “Scottish Premiership side Livingston want £2million for their in-demand striker Lyndon Dykes.”

With such a relatively huge price tag, neither Celtic nor Rangers are expected to make a move for Lyndon Dykes any time soon but if they can manage to sell their current centre-forward(both of whom are highly valued in the market) then buying the Livingston man should not be a big issue for them.
