Man City successfully fended off interest from Liverpool to defend their Premier League crown and most pundits are putting their money on the Citizens to repeat the same feat.

And in their first game of the 2019-20 campaign, Manchester City will travel to London to take on West Ham United who have made some pretty impressive signings during the summer transfer window.

Former England international, Trevor Sinclair speaking to talkSPORT has warned Man City about the strength of the Hammers new-look squad but at the same time, he has a word of caution for Manuel Pellegrini.

While Sinclair believes, West Ham have the strength to make the game an even contest but he has also warned the Hammers to be wary of the champion’s attacking muscle.

“I don’t think Pep is the kind of manager to rest on his laurels,” Sinclair said.

“He’s always after more and it’s difficult to even contemplate that after last season.

“When you look at the front five or six, it’s an absolute joke. Bernardo Silva was absolutely out of this world last year. Kevin de Bruyne only played half the games, so that’ll be like a new signing. The riches they’ve got are embarrassing.

“Bringing Rodri in there, he’s performed well in the pre-season games and you would expect him to try and win that position over Fernandinho.

“We’ve not even spoken about Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden, who Pep said is the most talented player he’s ever worked with.

“I don’t think Pep said that to give him a confidence boost, I think he actually believes it. From what I’ve seen, he is an exceptional talent.”

On paper, this should be an easy three points for Man City but West Ham will be hoping that a lot of City players will be a bit rusty given that this is the first game of the new season.

But we believe, Man City should be on song this Saturday since they had a perfect buildup to the new campaign by winning the Community Shield vs Liverpool last weekend.
