Man City had been backed by many to win the 2018-19 Premier League title but no one expected Liverpool to give such a tough fight.
Last summer, almost every pundit had placed their bets on Man City defending the title with Liverpool fighting hard to compete for the top spot.
But in the end, the league title was decided by just a single point with Liverpool losing only a single EPL game during the course of the whole season.
Man City failed to win 4 games which were certainly far greater than Liverpool’s but it was those 7 unnecessary draws which really hurt Jurgen Klopp’s men.
This season though there is a buzz that the Reds will finally kill off the voodoo and end their decades-long wait to lift the Premier League title.
But speaking to the press, Jurgen Klopp has admitted that it will be Man City who will once again start the 2019-20 season as the favourites to win the trophy.
Klopp said: “We’re completely focused on Liverpool, although I heard the Premier League made a change because last season was so close with points.
“It would be great if we can be close to them (Man City) again, it’s clear they are big favourites again.
“The greed and determination they showed after scoring 100 points the season before was impressive.
“I don’t think they would have had 98 points if we wouldn’t have been around – and we would not have had 97 points if Man City wouldn’t have been around. We chased each other through the season, put each other under pressure and that led to that.
“All these games are so difficult we know we were lucky against Spurs at home, one or two other games too but then in some games we were unlucky. We were difficult to play and outplay we always created chances, were strong in lots of departments.
“Football is not like riding a bike. Teamwork, how one thing leads to another is not there from the first day but our development and improvement is our main target.
“The league as always will be our main focus, that’s where we play most games.
“No one can take away that we won the Champions League but it will not help us in the league this season.”
