According to German magazine Kicker (h/t Fussball Transfers), Erik ten Hag is one of the leading candidates to become the next Bayern Munich manager.

The Dutch manager is going through one of the lowest phases in his career with Manchester United and after United’s 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday, the murmurs of a sacking are growing even stronger.

Under ETH, Manchester United have now suffered a record 13 Premier League losses in a single season and things could get worse because they play Arsenal next weekend. Manchester United also have to face Man City in FA Cup final and many pundits have urged the new owners to sack Erik ten Hag before the trip to Wembley.

Whether that happens or not we aren’t sure but one thing is for certain, Ten Hag is unlikely to remain at the helm beyond this season. And as the noose tightens around Ten Hag’s neck at Old Trafford, Bayern Munich are growing increasingly confident of landing him.

Are Bayern Munich doing the right thing by going after Erik ten Hag?

The Dutch manager had a stellar managerial record with Ajax over five seasons but his reputation has gone down the drain in the Premier League. He won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups and one Super Cup with Ajax but at United, he’s only managed one League Cup so far.

Despite managing 108 games, he only has a 59% win record at Man United and there’s no doubt that naming him as manager will be a gamble decision for Bayern Munich. However, the Bavarians have already been rejected by several top coaches so they do not have too many options left.

Naglesmann, Xabi Alonso and Rangnick have all rejected the Bayern Munich job in recent weeks while there is no progress on the Zinedine Zidane front.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to take up the job at the Allianz Arena so it’s either the Portuguese or Erik ten Hag at the moment.

The Bundesliga is far less competitive than the Premier League so Erik ten Hag will get ample time to infuse his ideas and tactics into the Bayern squad and the way they have been playing under Thomas Tuchel this season, there’s not much to look down from here.

This season, the Bavarians have missed out on the league title and if Erik ten Hag can come in and reinstate that honour next season then it will be a big sense of relief for both him as well as the club.

The clock is ticking for the 54-year-old at Manchester United and sooner than later, he is going to be sacked. Now, United are eyeing a move for Thomas Tuchel so it is only fair for Erik ten Hag to join Bayern and redeem his name.
