Man City thumped 4 goals past Manchester United to pick up all three points in the derby, thereby restoring their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Guardiola’s side needed to win on Sunday to be able to maintain that gap because Liverpool have played one game less so effectively, City’s lead if of only three points.

While talking about the title race, the Man City manager admitted that Liverpool are the toughest opponents he has faced in his managerial career and he also went on to warn that the title race is not yet over.

“Hopefully we can say we are a pain in the a**e for Liverpool too,” he told Sky Sports, as quoted. “I said many times the success as a manager is the fact that year after year we still run like we are there to win again, even after three titles.

“We remain humble and continue to play every single game, do it and be there, these guys have done it many, many times.

“To fight with [Liverpool] is one of the biggest achievements of my career. They are outstanding. Liverpool are the toughest opponent I have ever faced in my 12 or 13 years as a manager.

“I have the feeling many tight games are going to happen. We are six points [ahead of Liverpool] but it is fake because we have played one more game.”

Will Liverpool be able to catch up with Man City?

Liverpool still need to face some tough opponents in the coming weeks and there’s a chance they might drop some points. Klopp’s side are still due to face the likes of Man United and Spurs and both these sides can stop the Anfield outfit(at least on paper).

Man City, on the other hand, have only one top-class game remaining and that is against Liverpool on the 10th of April. They also face teams like West Ham and Wolves but we doubt if either of these teams will be able to trouble Pep Guardiola’s side.

If Liverpool can keep on winning their matches until that game then the Man City vs Liverpool tie at the Etihad could effectively be the match that decides the Premier League title.

Liverpool are the only reason why Man City have not yet run away with the title this season and we have a feeling there’s still one major twist left to unfold in the coming months. Also, both these sides are still present in the Champions League and if either of them were to draw against another European powerhouse then those matches could very much have an effect on their domestic campaign.
