Sevilla FC vs Man United

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all interested in signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde but they will likely face some stiff competition from the two Spanish giants, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

United and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the defender for a long time and Liverpool have just joined the race but as per the report, Barcelona and Real Madrid also want to sign him.

Jules Kounde has been the talk of the town for more than a year now and last summer, he was on the verge of moving to the Premier League. Chelsea had tried really hard to sign him but somehow a deal could not be agreed between the two parties.

All these sides though will not have it easy since rumours are ripe that the French defender is currently valued at around £68 million so he isn’t going to come for a bargain fee, that’s for sure.

Do all the Premier Leagues need his services?

Chelsea could lose Christensen this summer and Antonio Rudiger hasn’t signed a new deal either so in such a scenario, making a move for someone like Jules Kounde seems very logical.

Thiago Silva is still world-class but the Brazilian is also at the twilight of his career and at best, he has one more good season left in him. Jules Kounde could very easily be his long-term successor at the club since Tuchel uses a three-man defensive line, Kounde can play and learn alongside Silva next season.

Harry Maguire and Varane were supposed to be the central defensive partnership for Manchester United but Maguire has been really poor this season and as per some rumours, Ralf Rangnick is keen to sign a new central defender.

United spent a lot of money to sign Maguire only a few seasons ago so we don’t see them spending a huge sum on another central defender this year but if they fail to secure a Champions League spot then another overhaul could very well be in on the cards.

Liverpool are the club who are perhaps the least interested amongst the Premier League sides since they have just signed Ibrahima Konate in a big-money move and the former Leipzig man is en route to becoming the long-term partner to Van Dijk. At Liverpool, Jules Kounde will be fighting for trophies but we doubt if the defender will be ready to join a side who can’t guarantee him regular starts.

Will Jules Kounde choose to snub a move to the Premier League?

The 23-year-old has been highly successful with Sevilla since joining them in 2019 and if clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona want to sign him then it’s bad news for all the Premier League sides.

Barcelona are rapidly getting back on their feet under Xavi and Real Madrid are also looking for an heir to Sergio Ramos.

Both these sides are big powerhouses in Europe and a player like Jules Kounde can very easily become a regular starter next season at either of these clubs.

Kounde might be divided in terms of his next destination but the Premier League sides won’t mind matching his transfer price tag and this could be the ultimate deciding factor.
