Man City came from behind to beat Brentford on Monday night and next up, they take on Everton at home in the Premier League.
The 3-1 win over the Bees brought Manchester City within two points of league leaders Liverpool and Pep’s side also have a game in hand. City are poised to dethrone Liverpool if they win their game against Everton but a loss against the Toffees could push them to the third spot, level on points with Villa.
Everton have won only one out of their previous five outings and they are currently 18th on the league table so Man City are the overwhelming favourites to win this weekend.
Just like last season, Man City are putting their foot on the peddle at the perfect time of the season and being a properly seasoned team, we doubt if they will slip up on Saturday or in the coming matchweeks.
Manchester City’s team news and injuries:
The biggest boost for Pep Guardiola is that he has a perfectly fit squad to choose from. Kevin De Bruyne has just come back from a long-term injury lay-off and after the playmaker’s return, Man City have hit fifth gear.
Along with KDB, Haaland has also returned to the squad and the City boss has admitted that the pair has made an instant positive impact.
Pep said in his pre-match press conference: “When one player scores 60 goals it helps you to win games. When you have a player with a thousand million assists and goals it helps you win games.
“You don’t have to study at Harvard or Yale to understand that.”
Against Brentford, MCFC played with only one defensive midfielder and Pep is expected to use the same formation this weekend as well.
Everton have lost 10 league games this season plus they have been handed a 10-point deduction so Guardiola can risk using just Rodri as the lone CDM.
Phil Foden was the hero in the 3-1 win with a superb hat-trick and the England international will definitely start on the left wing once again. Foden on the left means Jack Grealish and Doku will have to be on the bench.
The Man City manager is likely to go with an unchanged starting line up.
Man City predicted line up vs Everton:
Predicted Starting lineup(4-1-4-1): Ederson; Gvardiol, Walker, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake; Rodri; Phil Foden, Alvarez, KDB, B. Silva; Haaland.
