The Premier League 2019-20 season resumes on June 17 and the first big match will be Man City vs Arsenal at the Etihad. And some reports claim midfielder Lucas Torriera might not be a part of this match.

The midfielder has had an average season at the Emirates scoring just one and assisting one goal in 24 Premier League matches but things got from bad to worse when he picked up an injury on March 2 during Arsenal’s FA Cup clash vs Portsmouth.

He was taken off the pitch after just 16 minutes and following the game, there were numerous reports suggesting that the player is set to miss out on the rest of the season.

Mikel Arteta said in mid-March: “I wouldn’t like to rule him out. Lucas is really keen and would like to play again this season, whether that is realistic or not we will know in the next two or three weeks.

“It depends on how the bone is healing and how he is doing with his rehab, but we don’t know anything for sure.”

Thankfully, all the matches were stopped soon after that meaning Lucas Torriera has gotten enough time to get back his fitness.

Will Lucas Torriera miss the Man City vs Arsenal game?

This unexpected break has given the midfielder some much needed time to heal and now he has returned to training which is great news for the Arsenal manager.

The Man City vs Arsenal game is set to be the first match after the resumption and while the Urugyuan international is back in training we doubt if he will get to start due to his lack of match fitness.

The other Arsenal players are also dealing with the same issue but Lucas Torriera has just returned from a big injury so things are much more intricate for him.

Plus, Mikel Arteta will not want to risk the midfielder in the very first match itself and we are pretty confident Torreira will be brought back into the fold during a match against one of the weaker opponents.
